Stories in a Flash: Introduction to Flash Fiction with Kathy Fish
The term “flash fiction” brings to mind lightning, brilliance, spark. With hundreds of literary journals now devoted solely to the form, and the emergence of exciting new anthologies, such as the annual Best Small Fictions series, flash fiction is a rapidly burgeoning literary genre. As an introduction to flash fiction, this generative session will illuminate what flash is and isn’t. We will read and discuss the very best published examples of the form and then, using prompts, we will tap into memories and dream imagery which we will use to quickly create stories of 500 words or fewer. Expect to leave with two fresh drafts of surprising depth and emotional resonance. Supply list: paper and pen, laptop, tablet, etc. For more info, visit focobookfest.org.
The Old Town Library is located at 201 Peterson Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
